How a scan works
What a scan does, how often it runs, rescans, and your monthly scan quota.
A scan runs your tracked queries against ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, then records which engines named you and which named competitors. It is the measurement engine behind every number on the Visibility page.
Cadence
Scans run automatically every 7 days. The first scan also generates your query set, so it takes a little longer than later runs, which skip generation.
Rescans
You do not have to wait for the weekly run. Click Re-scan to run immediately against your existing queries, for example after publishing content or directory listings you expect to move citations. A rescan resets the 7-day clock, so the next automatic scan lands 7 days from the manual run, and it counts against your monthly scan quota.
Your scan quota
The Visibility plan includes 4 scans per month, which covers the weekly cadence plus headroom for a rescan or two. The count resets at the start of each billing period. Going over the cap returns an error rather than running. See Plans and limits.
Reading the trend
Visibility is not a single snapshot, so the Visibility over time chart needs at least two scans before it appears; a lone baseline is hidden on purpose. Once you have two or more, the chart shows your brand appearance trend with a per-engine breakdown.
